Thanksgiving

by my pangs of hunger do i show my thanks on this day of feasts and gluttons by this fast do i demonstrate my gratitude i am full not on food like some common fool i am full with appreciation for a peoples way now past to they who lived but did not last it is for these people that i fast they, who once lived in harmony they, who walked with no disharmony they, who were cheated, poisoned, murdered, and raped i fast for the native peoples of this land to them do i give thanks and That which is in all things to That do i give thanks above all i give thanks for a hope that somewhere on this land perhaps some small band maybe they might still live in such a way that would give me yet another reason to be thankful for
